Your pet’s wellness exam is a routine medical exam of an animal who appears healthy. A wellness examination may also be called a 'check-up' or a 'physical examination'. The focus of a wellness exam is the maintenance of good health. During your pet’s checkup, we will ask about your dog's eating and drinking habits, food, exercise, breathing, behavior, habits, elimination patterns, and lifestyle. We will perform a thorough physical examination, and we will make recommendations for necessary preventive treatments like vaccinations, parasite control, nutrition, skin and coat care, joint health, weight management, or dental care.

We strongly recommend regular wellness exams for the same reasons your doctor and dentist recommend them – if we are able to detect a problem in its early stages, it's more likely to be treated and resolved successfully with less expense and less difficulty. Vaccinations, heartworm prevention, and thorough exams can help your pet lead a long and healthy life.

Healthy adult pets should be examined at least once per year. Senior pets may need to be seen more often. This will allow us to learn how your pet normally looks and behaves making it easier to spot abnormalities.
