Biography

Dr. Ahrabi
Dr. Ahrabi is the owner of Kanan Veterinary Hospital, and has been practicing veterinary medicine for over five years. He has held a passion for the field of veterinary medicine for as long as he could remember, and believes there is nothing more satisfying than providing relief and aid to animals and in turn, their owners. Our pets are our family, after all.

Dr. Ahrabi graduated from UC San Diego in 2011 with a Bachelor’s Degree in General Biology, then went on to obtain his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Missouri in 2016, before moving back home to Los Angeles. Since graduating, he has developed an interest in preventative medicine (including educating clients on what they can do at home to help their pets stay healthy for as long as possible!) and internal medicine, including managing endocrine disorders such as diabetes.

Outside of medicine, he enjoys basketball, watching movies, long hikes, and playing the drums or anything music related.

Domestic and International Health certificates

Dr. Ahrabi is nationally accredited to complete health certificates, which are required for most plane travel with your pet(s). These certificates verify that all travel requirements are met and that your pet(s) are healthy enough for travel in general. For international health certificates, we ask that you visit aphis.usda.gov/aphis/pet-travel to be aware of any requirements or deadlines for domestic or international travel with your pet.

New Adoption Exams

For newly adopted puppies and kittens, it is imperative to start vaccinations between 6-8 weeks of age to make sure their immune systems can handle all the viruses around, especially in Southern California! Please make sure to bring any medical records, including vaccine records, from the adoption facility. We will also ask for you to bring a fecal sample for parasite testing. Parasites are very common in young pets due to their weaker local immunity to pathogens, including viruses, bacteria, parasites, and more. Puppies and kittens can also be born with an array of congenital issues ie heart disease, so it is important to get them checked out by a doctor and catch these issues early!
